Obituary of James E. Osbon

Mr. James E. Osbon, age 78, of Daleville, died Thursday, February 14, 2008, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, February 17, 2008, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with Reverend Jim Smith, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Saturday. Mr. Osbon was born April 29, 1929 in Blakely, Georgia to the late Nora I. Parker Osbon and John S. Osbon. He grew up in Geneva and joined the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Mr. Osbon worked with Civil Service as an Ammunitions Specialist until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Osbon sold boiled peanuts in Enterprise and was affectionately known as the "Peanut Man" by his loyal customers. He was an avid fisherman. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley G. and Bill Strickland, Sharlotte D. and Steve Graydon of Columbus, Georgia, and Kimberly L. and Mike Warren of Bossier, Louisiana; three sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin L. and Katrina Osbon of Eufaula, Timothy R. and Rose Stollings of Level Plains, and Richard L. and Deborah Stollings of Keatchie, Louisiana; three special grandchildren, James Osbon, Ravaye Stollings Lamus, and Holly Stollings.
