Obituary of Jesse Reece Parrish

Mr. Jesse Reece Parrish, age 81, of Ozark, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Saturday, March 7, 2009 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Robert Bayne, Jr. and Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. His grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Friday evening. Mr. Parrish was born June 7, 1927 in Dale County to the late Luther Bundy Parrish and Eva Ruth Teal Parrish. He grew up in Graceville, Florida and returned to make his home in Ozark in 1951. Mr. Parrish served in the Army Air Corps. He worked with the United States Post Office for 20 years and then with various newspaper carriers for 13 years. He owned and operated Jesse R. Parrish Sign Company, and was always involved with additional business ventures such as aluminum recycling. Mr. Parrish was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Emogene Wright, Winona Consford, and Lois Taylor. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rolla Merle Woodard Parrish of Ozark; three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Irvin Starrak, Debbie Bast and Brian Henderson, and Lisa and Kevin Gowan all of Ozark; six grandchildren, Scott Simmons, Lessie S. Windham and husband Lee, Caitlin Enfinger and husband Max, Casey Gowan, Eric Bast, and Kyle Bast; great grandson, Alex "Big Shot" Enfinger; great grandson to arrive in April, Jaxton Windham; two brothers, Raymond H. and Jewell Parrish of Dothan, William C. Parrish of Slocomb.
