Obituary of Anne Metcalf Young

Mrs. Anne Metcalf Young, age 90, of Ozark, died late Tuesday evening, September 2, 2008, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, September 5, 2008, from Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Her body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening. Mrs. Young was born September 4, 1917 in Dale County to the late Lillar Bama Wilks Metcalf and John Edward Metcalf. She attended Ariton schools and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Troy State Teachers College, now Troy University. Mrs. Young was a school teacher for over fifteen years in Ozark, Daleville, Skipperville, and in Sylvester, Georgia. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Young on September 6, 1979. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Young of Alpine, Arizona, Johnny and Sandra Young of Ozark, Tommy and Brenda Young of the Mabson Community; eight grandchildren, Marianne and (Keith) Albritton, John David Young, Susan Young, Christopher Young, Lisa and (Joe) Doherty, Elena Young, Brian and (Valerie) Young, Wayne and (Sarah) Young; six great grandchildren, Westin Young, Christopher Young, Conner Young, Garrett Blackmon, Matt Doherty, and Sean Doherty.
