Obituary of Hubert Lee Rhodes

Mr. Hubert Lee Rhodes, 92, of Orange Park, Florida, died Thursday, July 7, 2005. Funeral services will be graveside at 10:00 A. M. Thursday, July 14, 2005, from Old Center United Methodist Church Cemetery in Newville, Alabama. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mr. Rhodes was born August 13, 1912 in Luverne, Alabama to the late Frances Josephine Byrd Rhodes and Verdie Justice Rhodes. He served his country proudly as a sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, serving with General Patton's Engineers. Mr. Rhodes also dedicated time with the Alabama National Guard. He was a member of the CCC Civilian Conservation Core of Jacksonville, Florida, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 38 Trench Rats Dug Out 510, VFW Post #8225 Middleburg, Florida and the Cooties, American Legion Post #250 Middleburg, Florida, and he was very active with the Boy Scout Troop #418 in Orange Park, Florida. Mr. Rhodes is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Myra Nell Brannon Rhodes, two daughters, Myra Lee Heck and her husband, Larry, and Sharlyn Lee Vaslos and her husband, George. Two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends also survive.
