Obituary of Julian Baker Gamble

Mr. Baker Gamble, age 83, of Dothan, formerly of Ozark, died early Sunday morning, February 12, 2006, in Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday evening. Mr. Gamble was born August 26, 1922 in Headland, Alabama, to the late Zoe Baker Gamble and Edward Vernon Gamble. Mr. Gamble graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He married Annette Carroll in 1948, making his home in Ozark where he worked with Fort Rucker Contractors, and then was City of Ozark Building and License Inspector until his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Carroll Gamble, in 1972. Mr. Gamble is survived by two daughters, Jane Powell and her husband, Walter of Dothan, and Julianne Gamble Kiger-Golden of Enterprise, A special companion and friend, Marie Mahon, Panama City Beach, Florida, six grandchildren, Annette Carroll Kiger, James Andrew Kiger, Jeffrey Alan Kiger, Elizabeth Rose Kiger, Jennifer Carroll Powell, and Melanie Annette Powell, one sister, Vernelle Gamble Rogers of Donalsonville, Georgia. Six great grandchildren also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Westview Memorial Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 484, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
