I have known of Skip for a long time, having worked with the Federal Government for 31 years. My most recent contact has been with the museum foundation, of which I was their manager for the last 5 years. We sold his book in the Gift Shop and I accompanied him to the Ann Varnum Show and we had lunch together at the Golden Corral in Ozark. I talked with him recently and will miss his lively spirit.

I met Skip shortly after he came to Ozark. I was employed at Alabama Aviation & Tech College and worked closely with him on the fuel tests conducted at the college. I visited in his home a few times and was amazed at the people he had known over the years. He was truly a person who loved aviation and a great contributor to the field. I often saw him in eating establishments in Ozark and he always eagerly brought me up to date on his latest book - and made sure I got a copy when it was published. He was an unique individual and I will miss him.

I feel privileged to have known Skip as a friend for several years. I could listen to him for hours, as he had such a vast store of knowledge. H would always say "I am the luckiest person on earth", but I think Skip made his luck. Such an amazing and smart man.

I will always remember Skip like a 2nd Father to me. He was a wonderful, kind, and generous man. The world has lost a great person. It has been an honor knowing Skip for over 25 years and I will miss his wonderful peanuts every Christmas and his calendar that he so faithfully sent. I think most of all I will miss his wonderful stories, what knowledge and history he had. I can still remember the first time I met Skip when he picked me up at the airport to surprise his beautiful Ruthie, my Mother, for her 70th birday. I also have fond memories of Skip and Mother visiting me in Atlanta for her 80th birthday and I had rented a limo and took them both out for a lobster dinner. I don't think I have ever seen anyone enjoy lobster like Skip did! I will always love and cherish the wonderful memories that I had with Skip and Ruth and will always remember and love Skip for what a wonderful person he was.

I vividly remember the first time meeting Skip, I could not have been but 7 or 8 years of age. I remember the passion in which he spoke, and of all the amazing things he had seen and done. He spoke so literally on the owho's who" of aviation and "boy oh boy" did he have the pictures to show where he had been and who had accompanied him along the way. I remember him stinking up Ruth's kitchen preparing for his fellow Yankee buddy a divine meal of sautTed smelts. I immediately was enamored with Skip's charm, his flair for story telling, his unbridled charm and his loyalty to those he loved; not to mention those little fish he prepared with such zest I will miss Skip, his hearty laugh, his interesting stories and his warmth and friendship as a friend and as a Grand Father figure in my life. You will not be forgotten Skipper...

Edmund L. Eveleth, known only as Skip to most of us in Ozark, was a transplanted New England Yankee who dwelt among us for the last 25 years of his wide-ranging, inquisitive, and fulfilling life. We were privileged to know Skip in the full maturity of his life and to hear his first hand accounts of the events he lived through. We are thankful for his life, we are thankful that his history of the times in which he lived lives on in his writings. Skip was a gentle, courageous man who lived life to the fullest. The world is a richer place because of Skips life among us. It is a poorer place without his graceful presence. His passing leaves an empty spot in our lives and in our hearts. Good bye Skip.
