Obituary of Ida Ruth Long

Mrs. Ida Ruth Long, age 92, of Clio, died Saturday evening, September 10, 2005, in an Athens, Alabama nursing facility following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, September 14, 2005, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend William B. Easterling officiating. Interment will follow in Sykes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mrs. Long was born January 23, 1913 in Dale County to the late Ola Jane Beasley Spears and James Spears. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis B. Long. Survivors include two daughters, Betty McKelvy and her husband, Herb, Huntsville, Alabama, and Jane Rutledge and her husband, Darrell, Meridian, Mississippi, one son, Billy R. Long and his wife, Hilda, Huntsville, Alabama, one sister, Clyde Hinderliter, Ozark. Nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Sykes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Betty Kendrick, 2043 Hwy 10, Clio, Alabama 36017.
