Mr. Byrd was a native of the Longstreet Community of Dale County where he was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a retired aircraft mechanic having worked at Fort Rucker, and at Dannely Field in Montgomery. He was a member of the Brundidge Masonic Lodge #184 and the Alcazar Shrine Temple. He raised cattle, farmed, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in his yard.
