Miss Wenonah Martin, age 75, of Ozark, died Sunday afternoon, May 7, 2006. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Camp Ground Baptist Church with Reverend Al Sonanstine officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Miss Martin's body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Wednesday afternoon. Wenonah was born November 24, 1930 in Ozark. She graduated from Judson College and the University of Alabama and did additional work at Auburn University. She taught in the Eufaula City School system five years before returning to Ozark to Carroll High School where she taught until her retirement in 1988. She established the guidance program at Carroll High in 1960. During her 36 years as an educator she was active in local, state and national educational organizations. She held offices on the local, district and state levels. She was a charter member of Alabama Alpha Delta, Alpha Delta Kappa, and was instrumental in the organization of the fidelis Eta Alpha Delta Kappa local chapter for retired teachers. Wenonah was an active, dedicated member of Camp Ground Baptist Church, serving as teacher of the Lydia Senior Adult Ladies Class and as church organist. She was the daughter of the late Emmett and Ethel K. Martin. Her brother was the late Harold Martin. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Jean Martin of Wilmington, Delaware, a nephew and his wife, Hal J. and Kari Martin of Ozark, two nieces, Pam M. Villarose of Melbourne, Florida, and Trudy Lynne Martin of Ozark, two great nephews, Richard and Tyler Sickler of Willmington, Delaware, five great nieces, Maggie Martin of Ozark, Kassie Sickler of Melbourne, Florida, and triplets: Rachal Lynne Martin, Hallie Beth Martin, and Samantha Jean Martin who attend Mixon Elementary School in Ozark, aunts and uncles, Hazel and Hi Hiler of Ontario, California, Robert L. and Bernice Martin of St. Louis, Missouri, numerous first cousins and other relatives also survive. Pallbearers will be the active and inactive deacons of Camp Ground Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Lydia Sunday School Class and Fidelis Eta Alpha Delta Kappa members. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Mixon Elementary School Playground Fund, 349 Sherril Lane, Ozark, Alabama 36360. Service Information
