Obituary of William Bunyan Dickert

Mr. William Bunyan Dickert, Jr., 86, of Montgomery, formerly of Ariton, Alabama, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, February 24, 2005, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark, Alabama, with Reverend Harry Circle officiating. Interment will follow in Ariton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home from 12:30 P. M. Thursday until service time. Mr. Dickert was born June 5, 1918 in Brundidge, Alabama to the late Una B. Richardson Dickert and William Bunyan Dickert, Sr. He attended the University of Alabama, worked in Tuscaloosa with Gulf States Paper Company, and Dixon Lumber Company in Georgia where he operated saw mills. Mr. Dickert worked with the Coca-Cola Company in Montgomery for over 26 years, retiring in 1982 as Service Manager. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a charter member of the Woodley East Baptist Church in Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jones Dickert. Survivors include one daughter, June Dickert Dean and her husband, Tom, Birmingham, three grandchildren, David Barr, Sterrett, Alabama, Donna Lacey, Clanton, Alabama, and Denise Chapin, Gardendale, Alabama. Five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302.
