Obituary of Peggy Grantham Doren

Mrs. Peggy Grantham Doren, a resident of the Bertha Community of Dale County died Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Flowers Hospital at the age of 88. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Hart and Reverend Judd Waldrop officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Tuesday from 1:00 P. M. until service time. Mrs. Doren was born June 13, 1933 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Jerry William Grantham and Pearl Enfinger Grantham. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Troy University and taught school for over thirty years. She loved gardening and traveling with her husband. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Doren; and two brothers, Howard Grantham and Jack Grantham. She is survived by two daughters, Diane Drinkwater (Terry), and Janet Cooper, all of the Bertha community; eight grandchildren, Paul Grantham (Candace), Marie Standifer (Wesley), Alex Grantham (Keaton), David Grantham (Jessica), Kati Evans (Dan), and Jody Cooper; eight great-grandchildren, Grant Standifer, Grey Standifer, McKinley Grantham, Ella Kate Grantham, Louisa Grantham, Max Grantham, Claire Evans and Elizabeth Evans; four sisters, Betty Nabors, Sue Quick, Pat Walker (Estus) and Sarie Ready (Jerry). Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank the Staff of the Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Facility for their care and compassion shown for Mrs. Doren.
