Obituary of Anna Myrl Snell
Mrs. Anna Myrl Strickland Snell, a lifelong resident of the Asbury Community, ascended to her heavenly home Monday, January 22, 2024. She was 99 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Snell will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, January 27, 2024, from Asbury United Methodist Church with Reverend Phil Craddock and Reverend Tara Chamblee officiating. Interment will follow in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church from 9:30 A.M. until service time.
Anna Myrl was born December 23, 1924, at the family home in Asbury, Alabama to the late Harmon Matthew Strickland, Sr. and Hettie Bottoms Strickland. She was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she devoted her time to taking care of the precious little ones in the nursery and preparing meals for church functions and community needs. Anna Myrl was a full-time homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her family. She made the prettiest biscuits and the best dressing and pound cakes. Feeding her family was her love language. Even in her last days, she insisted that her family go eat after visiting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Daniel Webster “Webb” Snell; three sisters, Ruby Lee Byrd, Lucille Payne, and Martha Strickland; and two brothers, Harmon Matthew Strickland, Jr. and JD Strickland. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Merice Raff and son-in- law Richard Raff of Dothan, Alabama; her son, Daniel Justin Snell and daughter-in-law Jan Snell of Ozark, Alabama; three granddaughters, Trisha Huckaba (Rudy), Tammy McCarter (Robby), and Brandi Rodewald; one grandson, Brandon Singleton (Breanna); five great grandchildren, Ashli Carroll, Joshua Cullifer, Lea Huckaba, Lee McCarter, and Rosie Singleton; two great-great grandchildren, Anna and Jaxon Carroll.
The family would like to thank all those at Oakview Manor Nursing Home that have loved and cared for our mother and grandmother these past several years and Community Hospice for making her last days better.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2536 County Road 33, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
