Obituary of Mable L. Leatherwood

Mrs. Mable Lavata Berry Leatherwood, age 83, of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, September 16, 2008 in Wiregrass Medical Center at Geneva, Alabama. God called home an angel and she answered His call. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, September 18, 2008, from Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 P. M. Thursday until service time. Mrs. Leatherwood was born October 26, 1924 in Dothan, Alabama to the late Marietta and John Colon Berry. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for the past sixty years where she taught the Preschool Sunday School Class, was a vacation Bible School Teacher for over forty years, and was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class for the past fifteen years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Forrest Franklin Leatherwood in 2004, one brother, and three sisters. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Jeff White of Panama City Beach, Florida, Dawn and Vann Bradshaw of Geneva; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Libby Leatherwood, Colon and Becky Leatherwood all of Ozark. Fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Regina and the staff of Westbrook Assisted Living, and Wiregrass Medical Center and Nursing Facility.
