Mr. Angelo "Gunny" Petralia, age 82, of the Mabson Community of Ozark, died at his home Wednesday morning, May 19, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, May 22, 2010, from St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Egbe, Reverend Charles McCabe, and Deacon John Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Mabson Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. A Rosary will be held for Mr. Petralia at the funeral home beginning at 5:30 P. M. Friday evening. Following the Rosary the family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Mr. Petralia was born December 11, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Sebastian and Frances Frizzi Petralia. He joined the Merchant Marines and later the United States Army, and was transferred to Fort Rucker. Following his military service, he worked at Fort Rucker as a Design Draftsman. He started Bahama Pools in the early 1970's and later Bama Pools, retiring in 2008. Mr. Petralia was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. As a child he wore his toy pistols and was affectionately given the nickname "Gunny". He enjoyed bowling, building and restoring wooden boats, and dog racing at Ebro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thera Judah Petralia; five sisters, Lillie, Rosie, Vicki, Sadie, and Connie; and one brother, Charlie. Survivors include his wife of 22 Years, Hilda Conrad Petralia of Ozark; five daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Steve Wilborn of Cleveland, Tennessee, Debbie Petralia of Ozark; Angie and Alan Gevara of Ozark, Vicki and Rick Morello of Columbus, Ohio, Renee` Baxter of Bascom, Florida; one son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Pattie Welch of Bascom, Florida; one sister, Nellie Lepore of Fremont, California; grandchildren, Jamie Peak, Jessica and Bert Munn, A. J. Gevara, Miranda and Adam Jordan, Angela Baxter, Tiffany Baxter, Courtney Wilborn, Justin Wilborn, Derek Welch, Ashley Morello, and Cameron Morello; great grandchildren, Breanna Munn, April Munn, Chloe Jordan, Isabella Sims, and Scarlett Gevara. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Munn, Buddy Paramore, Michael Catrett, Don Judah, Harvey Monk, and Kevin Murray. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus, P.
