CW4 Quincy A. Bearden (United States Army Retired) passed away in his home on Monday, February 23, 2009, at 11:30 A. M. after a brave battle with Alzheimer disease. He was 80 years old. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at Ozark Baptist Church with the Reverend Greg Aman, Reverend Bill Hix and Reverend Doctor James Wayne officiating. Interment will follow with full Military Honors in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday. Mr. Bearden was born on January 6, 1929 and reared in Birmingham. He served his country in the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer for 29 years. He has been an active member of Ozark Baptist Church for 39 years where he served many years as a deacon and was named deacon emeritus in 2002. Mr. and Mrs. Bearden were involved with voluntary missions for many years with the North American Mission Board, the Alabama Baptist Convention and the Dale Baptist Association. He lead mission teams, built, renovated and repaired many churches through the United States. He was preceded in death by his parents, Washington Mack and Alma Virginia Bearden, three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine E. Bearden; four daughters, Faye Brown and husband Kerry of Ozark, Cathy Frizzell and husband Jerry of Opelika, Pam Newman and husband Mike of Montgomery, Karen Goodson and husband Jerry of Ariton; one son, James Mack (Bo) Bearden and wife Susan of Cummings, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Deanna Henson and husband Rusty, Matthew Brown and wife Cherlyn, Kimberly Henderson and husband Robbie, Carianne Stinson and husband Troy, Elizabeth Bearden, Clair Goodson, Sarah Newman, Kala Goodson, Samantha Bearden, and Courtney Jones; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter Henson, Brennen Brown, Chandler Brown, Catherine Henson, Trent Henderson, Evan Henderson, Emily Stinson. He is also survived by a host of extended family and church family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ozark Baptist Church Family Life Center, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; to Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, 126 Hospital Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to your favorite charity.
